Firm's First toxic Injury Client and Long-Living Lung Transplant Survivor!

In 1990, Raphael Metzger accepted his first client claiming toxic injury. Carolyn Guichard, then a 36-year old woman, had worked for many years as a chemical mixer at a detergent plant and had been diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis - scarring of the lungs. Mrs. Guichard's medical condition was terminal unless she got a lung transplant. Mr. Metzger helped Mrs. Guichard get a lung transplant, successfully brought a toxic tort case against the manufacturers of the chemicals she was exposed to at work, and negotiated lifetime medical care for Mrs. Guichard in settlement of her workers' compensation case.

Carolyn Guichard has broken all the records. Her initial goal had been to live long enough to see her children graduate high school. Now her children are grown and married, and Carolyn is a proud grandmother. January 6, 2003 marked the thirteenth anniversary of her new lung.
