The debate continues. . . but what are the levels of benzene after the soda has been exposed to heat or ultraviolet, which science has found leads to much higher levels of benzene? Read the complete article on PlanetSave.com.
It could be worse. I read another article about chemical problems in other parts of the world where soda products were found to have pesticides! They are fighting in India over whether the soda companies need to disclose the amount of pesticide on the label so that the public can make an informed decision to drink or not to drink. That is the question.

Here is another substantial benzene-induced cancer hazard for our children. Many popular soft drinks mix ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and either sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate together which forms benzene. The worse part is that the FDA has known for more than 15 years and has been just waiting for the industry to voluntarily change their formulas. Yeah right!
